Mt. Charleston
Scenic Mt. Charleston is less than an hour’s drive from the bustling Las Vegas Strip, yet a world away. Hiking and picnicking opportunities abound in the summer, when temperatures near the 11,918-foot Charleston Peak are around 30 degrees cooler than the Las Vegas valley. In the winter, the action moves to Mt. Charleston’s Lee Canyon —home to the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort.

Bonnie Springs
The Wild West is still alive at Old Nevada, an 1880’s mining town replicated on Bonnie Springs Ranch. A popular destination for families, Bonnie Springs Old Nevada includes a petting zoo, miniature train ride and live entertainment on weekends and holidays.

Red Rock Canyon
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is located 17 miles west of the Las Vegas Strip. Teeming with natural desert beauty and wildlife, Red Rock Canyon welcomes over 1 million visitors annually who come to hike and marvel at the beautifully colored rocks for which Red Rock Canyon is named.

Valley of Fire
Valley of Fire is Nevada’s oldest and largest state park, located 55 miles northeast of Las Vegas. Camping, hiking, picnicking and photography are popular activities at Valley of Fire, named for the red sandstone formations found there. The park is also home to 3,000 year-old Native American petroglyphs.

Lake Mead
Three of America’s four desert ecosystems — the Mojave, Sonoran and Great Basin Deserts — meet in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, just east of Las Vegas. A haven for boaters and fishermen, Lake Mead is a popular destination year-round.

Hoover Dam
Just 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas is a marvel of the modern world – Hoover Dam. Thousands of men worked during the Depression to build the dam that would tame the Colorado River. Hoover Dam is a National Historic Landmark and has been rated by the American Society of Civil Engineers as one of America's Seven Modern Civil Engineering Wonders. Tours are offered daily.

Grand Canyon Tours
Many companies in Las Vegas operate Grand Canyon tours – by foot, vehicle and air. At least once in your lifetime you have to see the remarkable vistas and awesome beauty of the Grand Canyon — one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
